    Nikola Plus

Coming from a MCM5 which I've thoroughly enjoyed and pounded while learning the Nikola Plus with the bigger battery and motor is 13 kgs heavier. It's top heavy which as a short guy takes some adjustment time but it's so smooth running on the 3" tire with a great power threshold. Adam from Wrong Way fame had the 84v version for two years and heaped much praise and used his review of that and the 100v version that I own as a yardstick. For a mid-level wheel for $1949- it offers great value while dealing with Smart Wheel with the transaction and delivery to BC was seamless and expedient.

    Gotway/Begode Nikola 100v

This was my first wheel and I have to say that the learning curve was a bit steeper than I anticipated. The wheel felt too heavy for me in the first few days however I’m glad I kept on practicing and this has to be the most fun I’ve had riding any PEV. The range and power are amazing and just what I needed coming off an Apollo Ghost. With aggressive use this gives me about 65 km which is plenty for me currently, and with light use you can do about 90km no problem. Speed is as advertised - 65kmh and you don’t really need more without a proper suspension anyway. I’ve ridden in heavy rain and the wheel performs very well, so the reported waterproofing holds up. I’ve crashed the wheel on slow speeds multiple times while learning and apart from some scratches on the outer plastic no other damage was observed. Of the negatives, a couple of things to keep in mind is that this wheel is prone to traintracking so you need to fight with it a little on cracked or uneven terrain. I suspect a wider tire could fix this issue. Also wobbling is definitely present, however it’s not difficult to control and should mostly go away with consistent riding as your experience increases. Lastly, newer models have suspension which improves the ride quality, however I wouldn’t say that this was deciding factor for me when choosing a wheel. Overall I would recommend this wheel to anyone who’s thinking of transitioning into EUCs as this one has to be the most complete package of any EUC that’s being offered currently.

    Beauty and the beast

First this is not your entry level wheel and you don't want this to be your first wheel for safety reasons due to not having enough riding experiences. I have came from Inmotion v8 to GW Tesla to KS 18. The top speed of all my previous wheel is capped at 50 kmh. Nikola is 60 kmh plus and this is a beast to work with. The handling is surprisingly good, minimal wobble at sudden stop at high speed, totally manageable if you do it right. The quality is top notch, the side LED light is the best in class. Now onto the most important thing, the wheel size combined with the width and weight makes it feel like a 18 inch wheel, it's very stable going over bumps and pot holes. (Vs suspension ones) However you still need to watch for road conditions and bend your knees all the time, but it is not any worst than 18 inch wheel, so there is no reasons why you would not want this wheel over the 18 inch ones. The power is noticeably better than any of my previous wheel. Now the cons. Because this is 100V, it drains the battery power at much higher rate, so you would get much less distance than the 84V version, so this is a trade off. The wheel is heavy but totally manageable, I can still lift the wheel with one hand, although people can tell I am struggling a bit. The handle is prone to break during crush it's true. All in all the advantage of having higher speed and the surprisingly good handling, combined with outstanding quality and beautiful design outweigh any cons. I notice there are higher speed models from GW, but I think it is much better to step up incrementally for safety reasons. 60 kmh plus cruising speed is more than what I need in the city. I am very happy to be the owner of this wheel, and this is absolutely one of the best wheels ever made by GW, a highly 5/5 recommended wheel for my usage purposes.
